Sometimes if we stoop low enough we are able to receive the gifts we are meant to share with others, and thus to fulfill the mission whereto we are sent.

My desire is simply to share these images in the hope that they will give to the viewer a sense of connection to our Maker, a sense of place and purpose, of connection.

The work you shall see is mostly pastel on paper.  The simplest of means, the most minimal of marks.  Because my background is architecture I have veered toward creating the setting, the scene, rather than the players, the actors. Those of you who view this work - you are the actors.  Your relationships are given a backdrop for action.

In 2016 I was confirmed in the Catholic Church.  Impressed by the audacity of Pope Francis to speak to Congress about the immorality of the arms race, I began to investigate in 2015 the 2000-year-old tradition that produced this saintly person who speaks to and for me.  Suddenly I found myself connected to history, to the profundity of thought that is the contribution of Christianity to the world.  I truly felt I was standing on the shoulders of giants.

And so you will see that my art is changing as my thinking changes. From living in a world of dreams, of ideals, I seek now to live in this mysterious world where suffering is real and to be met with charity.  The task becomes one not of escape or self-transformation but of transfiguration, of seeing everything through the lens of HIs act, His story.

It is a profound difference.
