In the wake of the pandemic

We are on the boat with Christ heading south on the Hudson. Riverside Park is on the left. The green rays coming down represent hope , the orange rays faith. On the boat is Momo, the cat I love, and what he loves - his catgrass. Ladders above the buildings signify the many deaths of the pandemic.The mockingbird is happy wherever he is.

Yeong-Gi (Everyone we love is on the boat with Christ) Pastel on paper 12/9/2021

Christie requested a pastel to celebrate Anouk's coming birth and Christian had asked me jokingly to make a work with Yeong-Gi on the same boat Momo was seated in "From Easter to Easter." Here Yeong-Gi is dressed as a samurai. The words on the water and boat read: Like the eyes of a servant on the hands of her mistress, so our eyes are on the Lord, our God, till he show us his mercy. Ps 123. Christie said "Yes." "Yea" said Christian. And so Anouk came gladly and joyfully, full of love!

The words on the dais for the picnic: Is. 26:12 O Lord, you mete out peace to us. For it is you who have accomplished all we have done.

Words on the octopus arm: Luke 1:78 In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high will break upon us,

Momo, my cat, rests on a branch in our reality. His family, indicated by the picnic blanket, has left for a walk briefly. A bridge has created a way for the family to escape to the kingdom of heaven via the act of love of the mother octopus. The bird comes to tell Momo to cross to safety with his family.

I found a sick bird outside Bryant Park on 42nd and took it to the Wild Bird Refuge for medical attention. Was told he needed to be euthanized humanely. I was so sad. I christened the bird Flyer. This is my tribute to him. Of course Momo, my cat, is destined for heaven. They are separated by a river of sky or water. God is introducing them to each other. Momo's favorite mouse toy is being dangled by God. The crudely drawn cat fountain represents God's overflowing goodness which took the form of a gift from a family member. Momo is covered by the wing of God. The little bus, which my granddaughter played with the weeks before, is driving on Flyer's flight path. Our answer to God is always yes, or yea.

God speaks to Momo, my cat, and Yeong-Gi, my granddog, through a human voice telling them their goodness. My physical presence between them is implied by the separation of the papers. It is an uneasy peace, with Yeong-Gi looking up to his Maker and Momo claiming the sofa bed for his own, but it is peaceful. The words enveloping them are from Psalms 85: I will hear what the Lord God has to say, a voice that speaks of peace, peace for his people and his friends, and those who turn to him in their hearts.
